I’m a pre-graduate LPC intern at CAC. I have a BA in Psychology from Wellesley College and an MA in Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Austin. I’m currently pursuing an MEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University and am interested in holistic wellness, meditation, mindfulness, and values-based living. My goal as a CAC Ambassador is two-fold – to engage with the community as an advocate for affordable mental health care and to engage with fellow interns as a peer mentor. Outside of CAC, I’m a mom, runner, writer, and scientific editor.
My name is Karissa Roy. I was born in San Antonio, Texas but have also lived in other countries/states but Austin is the place to be! I am a certified drug and alcohol counselor and a post grad as of October with a Masters in Professional Counseling on the LPC track. I support and believe in what Capital Area Counseling does and hope to continue to be a liaison sharing and spreading the support that CAC offers. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness techniques and compassion as my counseling style. I strongly believe in art therapy, recreational therapy and animal therapy and the benefits of these styles to be therapeutic and beneficial for most individuals.
Sarah Beddingfield is a pre-graduate Masters of Social Work student studying at the University of Denver. I received my undergraduate degree at St. Edward’s University and am currently working on my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Therapy, at Abilene Christian University. My career path has included work in advertising and marketing at various companies, which has supported my professional development and commitment to client service. I am currently a pre-graduate intern at CAC, I am enjoy working with diverse populations and growing my experience as a therapist. I am excited about being an Ambassador, helping connect CAC to the community and supporting our interns. When I am not studying or seeing clients, I enjoy time with my family and spending time outside. I believe you learn something new every day and am excited for this journey.
